Yards and Parts Inc. Limited Warranty Policy
This Limited Warranty Policy outlines the terms, conditions, and exclusions governing the sale of used engines and transmissions by Yards and Parts Inc. By purchasing a part, the customer agrees to the following terms:
1. Warranty Coverage by Vehicle Year
Yards and Parts Inc. provides a "Parts-Only" Limited Warranty on used engines and transmissions. The duration of coverage is strictly determined by the manufacturing year of the part:
-
Models 2001 to 2025: 6-Month Replacement and Return Warranty.
-
Models 1991 to 2000: 3-Month Replacement and Return Warranty.
-
Models Before 1990: 1-Month Replacement and Return Warranty.
2. General Coverage and Exclusions
-
Covered Components: This warranty covers the engine block, cylinder heads, and all internal core components, including pistons, crankshafts, camshafts, connecting rods, main bearings, valves, and oil pumps.
-
Non-Warranted Components: Accessories such as bolt-on components, wiring, sensors, switches, cables, belts, hoses, manifolds, wire harnesses, valve covers, and flywheels are included for convenience only and are not covered.
-
Turbochargers: These are considered separate components and are sold independently without warranty unless specifically stated otherwise.
-
Appearance and Mileage: Yards and Parts Inc. does not warranty the physical appearance or "cosmetics" of any used part. While average miles are researched and provided, mileage is not guaranteed.
3. Mandatory Owner Obligations
To maintain warranty eligibility, the following actions must be performed and documented via commercial receipts from a licensed professional repair facility or an ASE-certified mechanic:
-
Installation Timeline: The part must be installed within 15 days of delivery.
-
Component Replacement: A new water pump, thermostat, and timing belt (if applicable) must be installed at the time of installation.
-
Maintenance: Engine oil and filters must be changed at installation and again at the first 1,000 miles, followed by the manufacturer's suggested maintenance schedule.
-
Record Keeping: The odometer reading and fluid levels must be clearly recorded on the installation receipt.
4. Warranty Claim Process
-
Immediate Action: If an issue is identified, the purchaser must stop operating the vehicle immediately; continued operation voids the claim.
-
Documentation: A diagnostic report from an ASE-certified facility must be shared with Yards and Parts Inc. at Support@yardsandparts.com within 5 business days of the issue.
-
Authorization: No repairs or disassembly may be performed without express written authorization from Yards and Parts Inc. Any unauthorized disassembly voids the warranty.
5. Cancellations and Fees
-
24-Hour Window: Orders cancelled within 24 hours of purchase are eligible for a full refund, provided the item has not shipped.
-
Post-24 Hour Fees: Orders cancelled after 24 hours are subject to a 20% processing and handling fee. If the item has shipped, the customer is responsible for original and return freight charges.
-
Core Charge Policy: Yards and Parts Inc. will always disclose if a core charge applies at the time of purchase. Core refunds are issued only if a rebuildable core is returned at the customer's expense within 30 days.
6. Limited Liability
The liability of Yards and Parts Inc. is limited solely to providing a replacement part of like kind or refunding the original purchase price. Yards and Parts Inc. does not assume liability for labor costs, towing, car rentals, lost profits, or any other consequential damages.
